Brainwaves 101

Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta, & Gamma. What’s the difference? What do they all mean? Find out the significance of each brainwave spectrum.

Research & Science

Neurofeedback and neurotherapy are based on decades of established science of neuroanatomy, neuropsychology, physiology and mathematics. Properly termed “applied neuroscience,” look into the efficacy of operant conditioning, pEMF, tACS/tDCS. and tapping neuroplasticity to encourage neurogenerativity.

Neurotherapy Clientele

Neurotherapy and neurofeedback are not a one size fits all intervention. It must be adapted to an individual's symptom patterns. Test results are then matched against a database. Using electromagnetic frequencies, fields, and electroencephalographical (EEG) feedback, we help individuals regulate their neural functioning. This natural modality is something to look into if surgery and medicine are not the regimens you seek.

Meet Dr. Tiff Thompson

“The realm of science has always been reluctant to test and measure subjective human states, dependent upon the subjective individuals’ reports. I believe that soon more laypeople and clinicians will take on the perspective that brainwaves can and do represent the psychological states of an individual, which are the subjective states of the individual.“

Santa Barbara NeuropathicTiff is a licensed psychotherapist and a board certified neurotherapist and neurofeedback professional. She is Santa Barbara's only Quantitative EEG Diplomate (QEEG-D) from the QEEG Certification Board (meaning that her processing and interpretations of brain maps is valid and certified). She is a Registered EEG Technician, a medical credential bestowed by the American Society of Neurodiagnostic Technicians. She has worked in neurology clinics, as well as clinical settings. She holds two Masters degrees, one in Depth Counseling Psychology and another in Communication from Pacifica Graduate Institute and the University of Maryland, respectively. She is a PhD in Psychology, her dissertation was on the intersection of Depth Psychology and electroencephalography (EEG).

Tiff has served as the Executive Director of the Western Association of Biofeedback and Neuroscience, and worked as a neurodiagnostician in the Neurology Clinic of Dr. Amorteguy in Ventura, California. In her Psychotherapeutic work, Tiff has worked with child, teen, and adult, and elderly populations. Tiff has delivered public and trade organization lectures on Brain Mapping (Quantitative EEGs), Clinical Quantitative EEGs, Brainwaves 101, neurotherapy, and induced meditative states at various organizations, such as the International Society of Neurotherapy Research, California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists 50th Annual Conference, and The Biofeedback Society of California conferences. Variations on the theme have been presented at Pacifica Graduate Institute and to the lay public of Santa Barbara in public lectures.

These days, when she’s not in the lab, Tiff teaches evening asana yoga. She instructs at a handful of Santa Barbara yoga studios and is known for the cardio-vascular and spiritual combination that is her hallmark style.

When Tiff found neurotherapy, quite by accident on a vacation in Hawai’i, she was hooked. Upon her return to Santa Barbara she began her career in neurotherapeutic practices and has not looked back. She is proud to be involved in the most cutting edge technology neurotherapy has to offer. She is constantly updating her knowledge and skillsets in the field to ensure she is up to date on all the newest and most effective advances the field offers.

Tiff’s aim with Neurofield Neurotherapy. is to bring cutting edge neurotherapy techniques into mainstream Santa Barbara, by bringing her skills in Brain Mapping (Quantitative EEG), Brain Training (using neurofeedback, biofeedback, and neurotherapy protocols), and brain-oriented psychotherapy to locals and visitors so that TheraMind Neurotherapy may serve as a source of healing for all individuals in need. If you are interested in speaking with Tiff, call her! She’s more than happy to speak with anyone who is interested in neurotherapy or any of her other passions.
