Simply
put, Digital Infrared Thermography is a 15 minute painless and
non invasive test of physiology. It is a valuable method available
for visualizing pain and physiology. A special camera is used
to provide instant thermal images or “thermograms”
of the whole body or just areas being investigated. The digitized
images are stored on a computer and sent electronically to a Medical
Thermologist for interpretation and analysis.
This
valuable procedure offers earlier detection of Breast Disease
as an adjunct to self examination, doctor examination, and mammography
alone. Digital Infrared Thermography detects the subtle physiologic
changes that accompany breast pathology, whether it is cancer,
fibrocystic disease, an infection or a vascular disease. With
this, your doctor can plan accordingly and lay out a careful program
to further diagnose or monitor you during and after treatment.
As
an example, if you had a penny inserted into your breast, your
body would react by sending white blood cells and histamine, causing
an inflammatory reaction. A mammogram would JUST just see the
penny; a thermogram would see the temperature of the penny and
the reaction to the penny... not the penny. When cancer cells
start to grow, these cells recruit a blood supply to feed them.
This is called angiogenesis. Angiogenesis in breast tissue is
thought to be a sign that breast cancer may follow. Thermography
picks up a thermal pattern from that blood supply, often before
a mammogram can detect the cells.
In
addition to its benefits in early detection of Breast Disease,
this clinical imaging procedure detects and monitors a number
of diseases and physical injuries, by showing the thermal abnormalities
present in the body, including:

Back injuries

What is Acupuncture, and how can it benefit me?
Acupuncture
is based on an ancient Chinese system of medicine, originating
over 6,000 years ago. It is a therapeutic technique that uses
fine needles that are inserted into the skin along pathways called
meridians. The 12 meridians in the human body, though not visible
to the eye, carry a life force called Qi (pronounced chee). This
vital energy source of Qi, when functioning optimally, nourishes
us and helps us maintain good health.
However,
when the energy or Qi flow is blocked or deficient, our bodies
are out of balance. This can poorly affect our energy, our appetite,
even our health in general. When the Acupuncture needles are inserted
into specific places where energy flow is obstructed, our body
responds by adjusting the imbalance, creating a happier, healthier,
and calmer you.
Balancing
the body’s energy flow is central to stimulating the natural
healing process from within. Acupuncture triggers homeostasis
or as Mary likes to say, “switches on our Autopilot”.
There
are countless ways Acupuncture can help you maintain your health.
Acupuncture can:
-
Relieve pain
-
Enhance healing
-
Reduce stress
-
Improve digestion
-
Increase immune function
-
Move blocked energy
-
Balance the endocrine system
-
Produce a peaceful state of relaxation
Modern
research confirms the effectiveness of traditional Chinese Medicine.
As a result, acupuncture is now recognized by most insurance companies.
It has become customary to have acupuncture benefits be an important
part of the compensation package for employers, when choosing
a health insurance provider.
What is Chinese Medicine, and how can it benefit me?
Chinese
Medicine originated over 6 thousand years ago. It is the herbal
component of traditional Chinese medical practices.
Individual
herbs are combined and prescribed in complex formulations to minister
to each individual’s personal needs. These special herbs
are an important element that an Acupuncturist uses as a tool
for healing.
Specific
herbs treat the various organs such as the heart, liver, kidney,
lung or spleen as well as other parts of the body. For example,
if you have an injury, Chinese herbs that increase circulation
and reduce inflammation are used. Also, if you are fatigued or
stressed, there are herbs to strengthen your Qi (pronounced “Chee”)
that will increase the energy flow in your body.
Mary
provides for her clients a comprehensive selection of concentrated
herbal extracts using modern scientific processing methods and
rigorous quality control.
